Have you ever needed to teach a certain concept to fill a gap in learner learning, then spent hours searching for the perfect resources (or worse, stayed up all night creating your own)?
It’s tricky when learners are sort of getting a concept, but they’re not fully comprehending it yet.
Maybe they need more practice at a skill.
Maybe they just need to hear you teach it a few more times, in a few different ways.
Or maybe you have some learners who are further along than others, and you’re struggling to tailor the learning for every individual.
This is one reason why we LOVE both The Spelling Box and The Comprehension Box.
These are two must-have box sets you’re going to want in your classroom because they’re so flexible, you can use them no matter where your learners are or what gaps you need to fill in your lessons.
Take a look at how you could use these two boxes to tailor your upcoming lessons:
The Spelling Box
The Spelling Box is a six-box series designed to improve learners’ success in spelling.
Packed with nine different spelling strategies and skills, each card type can be used with any spelling scheme and any spelling list!
- Contains a variety of cards anchored in proven strategies and skills to help learners master spelling (so you can hone in on whatever strategies and skills learners are weakest in while continuing to work through different weekly spelling lists).
- Can be used flexibly to incorporate regular spelling practice in creative and fun ways (including teaching stations, whole-class learning, consolidation, extension work, and ‘Literacy Slots’.)
- Designed to support differentiation by offering a variety of activities and approaches to practise each spelling strategy or skill, allowing you to tailor your learners’ learning.

The Comprehension Box
The Comprehension Box is a fantastic resource to either kickstart or further support lessons in understanding and processing written text and meaning.
Learners are challenged to develop their reading comprehension through a wide and captivating range of original fiction and non-fiction texts, as well as numbered questions that help measure a learner’s comprehension of each text.
- Contains a diverse range of original fiction and non-fiction texts, ensuring learners will always find a topic that interests them (plus, it’s colour coded so you can cater to different reading levels!)
- Cards vary in difficulty depending on topic, conceptual understanding required, age appropriateness, word count, sentence length, difficulty of the vocabulary, and many other factors.
- Each card contains numbered questions on the back so that you can measure learner comprehension of each text (making it easy to consolidate learning and identify any gaps that need more teaching).
