With many pupils having spent more time learning at home in the past few years, it’s become increasingly apparent that parents are awesome at educating their children!
We all know teachers are amazing, and that’s especially true now as parents across the nation are feeling more grateful than ever for the hard work and dedication teachers demonstrate year-round. However, we also understand that the recent impacts on education aren’t fleeting and mean that there is now more demand for a higher level of support in the home learning environment.
This is why we want to introduce you to some fantastic, curriculum-aligned, foundational workbooks to support your child’s home learning. As educators and parents, we know exactly how tough the past few years have been on everyone's educational experience, and so we want to do what we do best—support you and your learners to practise, consolidate, and reinforce learning year-round. We have produced some specially designed resources to give you the ability to align your home activities with the curriculum, so that you can give your child the best support in their education, no matter where they learn. Each of the following popular series has been written to support all year levels in primary schooling.
Practise, Consolidate, and Reinforce All Year!
Workbooks are a great resource for structured learning. Our New Wa
ve English in Practice (Revised Edition 2022) series was written to support the national curriculum through engaging activities. Each of the revised workbooks comprises 160 days of questions, broken into four groups of eight weeks. Dedicated skill focus sections provide pupils with daily practice of that skill, while the mixed questions will help them improve and consolidate their English comprehension, as well as their knowledge of how language works.
Or, maybe you're looking for a fun, comprehensive workbook to support your child's maths learning at home? The flexible, curriculum-aligned New Wave Mental Maths series has been carefully written by our teachers to support the varying levels of mathematical ability in any class. Show your pupils just how important maths is in their everyday lives—and that learning doesn’t have to be a chore! The day-to-day activities cover all mathematics strands and develop skills throughout each book and the series. Plus, its easy-to-use format takes some of the stress out of being your child’s educator at home.
Reading for Me is an incredible, new-style workbook series, containing a
range of appealing short stories in different genres. The questions allow pupils to practise, consolidate, and reinforce reading and comprehension, and allow parents to check that children have understood and completed the tasks. The books are easy for children to use independently, allowing them to take control of their reading journey.
In recent years, we've seen the demand for online learning grow. Reading for Me now comprises two components: Part A and Part B. Part A is the physical workbook and includes access to Part B, an online portal that can be projected onto a screen to encourage collaboration. A supplementary resource to the workbooks, Part B contains an additional 60 texts for pupils to study through an online platform. We’ve even created a handy tutorial for the Reading for Me online portal to show you how it can revolutionise your classroom—no matter where it may be.
