The Phonological Awareness Skills series is an excellent resource to aid teachers address the ‘Phonological and phonemic awareness’ learning outcome of the national curriculum, which states that pupils 'hear and say the initial sound in words' can segment the sounds in simple words and blend them together, and know which letter represent some of them', 'link sounds to letters, naming and sounding the letters of the alphabet' and 'begins to read words'.
